Creative Movement
Bodysuit of any colour, gymnastic shoes or ballet slippers or bare feet, skirt if desired.
Ballet
All female ballet students should wear hair in a bun.
Pre-Ballet, Pre-Primary and Primary – pink short sleeved bodysuit, pink ballet skirt, pink tights or pink or white ankle socks, pink ballet slippers.
Grades 1-5 RAD – navy blue tank bodysuit, pink tights, pink ballet slippers, character skirt and shoes (if doing exam).
Grades 6-8 RAD – navy or black sleeveless bodysuit, pink tights, pink ballet slippers, character skirt and shoes (if doing exam).
Intermediate Foundation RAD – black sleeveless bodysuit, pink tights, pink ballet slippers (with ribbons for exam), pointe shoes. Please note that split sole ballet slippers may not be worn for examinations at this level under any circumstances.
Intermediate, Advanced 1, Advanced 2 RAD – black sleeveless bodysuit, pink tights, pink pink ballet slippers or soft-block pointe shoes (if doing exam), pointe shoes.
Cecchetti exam uniform should be discussed with Mrs. Rutherford – she will be happy to point you in the right direction.
Boys uniform – white, short-sleeved leotard made of nylon, cotton, or a blend; or a well-fitted white T-shirt, with navy or black tights. White socks (if tights aren’t footed) and white ballet slippers, or black socks (if tights aren’t footed) and black ballet slippers – socks should be on the thin side and well fitted. We prefer that male students wear leotards, as they provide a better bodyline. However, if a student is uncomfortable with this, a well fitting t-shirt (no logos) is acceptable. Students in Creative Movement may wear comfortable fitness wear. Students in Pre-Ballet, Pre-Primary and Primary Ballet may wear black or navy shorts instead of tights. Adult/Teen Ballet
Traditional ballet wear – bodysuit, tights, ballet slippers. Ballet skirt optional. Close fitting fitness wear and/or jazz shoes are also accepted by many teachers (please confirm with individual faculty members).
Senior Ballet
For dancers aged 55+. Comfortable fitness wear or more traditional ballet uniform (tights, bodysuit). Ballet slippers, gymnastic shoes, jazz shoes or jazz sneakers.
Character/National Dance
Bodysuit, pink tights, character shoes (any style), character skirt, with long hair tied back and off face.
Members of Souvenir Folk Dance Ensemble should have a nude coloured body liner and pink tights for performances.
Jazz/Stage
Black bodysuit, black footed tights, black dance pants or shorts optional. Long hair should be tied back and worn off face.
Tap
Black bodysuit, black footed tights, black dance pants or shorts optional. Long hair should be tied back and worn off face.
Hip Hop
Ideally, baggy gray jogging pants, plain white baggy t-shirt. White (non-marking) skater style sneakers – no outdoor shoes on dance floors please. Jazz uniform also acceptable.
